I passed on a Quad Kennie go a while back and regeret it now so whatcha think?

Its listed at $150.00 but I should be able to slide it down to around $100.00

A rare one. Probably not the best-sounding, but if you are into quad collecting (or collecting uncommon vintage gear) then probably worth getting for the rarity value. At that price, I'd want it to be in very good working condition, though.
 
planar (with same font) also made orange plasma computer displays and 486 computers that were disguised as a fat keyboard. i owned a slew of both of those devices at one point. their computer stuff seemed ok. innovative design, average build.

thats a nice looking stereo but cant see paying $100 for it. unless another audio collector comes around, i see the seller being hard pressed to get $50 for an "old" stereo. hook it to some speakers at the sellers house and im sure some dirty controls will rear their ugly head. wave a $50 infront of the seller and see if he bites.
 
Hey thanks for all the input. You know I paid just $120.00 for that silver Pioneer stack last weekend. I really don't think this is worth more than a $20.00

I guess I was just caught up in the "found a rare one" syndrome.
 
Necropost I know but I was just wondering if anyone else has anything to share in the old Planar's?

Apparently Electrohome was a distributor for Marantz at the same time and may have studied them while designing their own receivers. Electrohome is admittedly low fi but this was an attempt to break into the hi fi market.

I stumbled across one of these exact receivers couple of weeks ago at a flea market. I asked him how much but he said he hadn't had a chance to make sure it worked. I've been wanting to get a quad and the fact these were Canadian made (I'm Cdn) and supposedly of high quality makes me want to grab it. Can't say I care for the gold tone controls but other than that it looks nice.

Picked up a cosmetically rough Realistic STA 2100D a couple of years ago from the same guy for $50.

If I grab it I'll need another pair of Energy ESMs for an all Canadian quadraphonic setup.
 
I tried out a Planar sr 2100 of the same origins and through the speakers, it sounded like a beast.
If you can find any info on it and bring it up to spec I think you'd be real surprised at the quality build and sound put into these.
Mine pounded. :)

PS : this is quite an old thread. I've passed mine along because of no info found.
 
I have an opportunity to purchase this large and heavy unit tomorrow at auction. But as a not so well recognized brand, not sure I would be able to pass it on with any great ease…thoughts? I am in Canada btw, so a bit interested in an engineered and built Canadian unit. A rarity!
