Hi gang,

I just purchased a vintage QUADRAFLEX 868 receiver. Sellers says all functions checked out OK.

I know it was manufactured for the old PACIFIC STEREO COMPANY and a precursor to the CONCEPT line of equipment. What company manufactured it in Japan??

Can anyone provide opinions about the quality and overall info on it??.....I attached a photo.

Thanks !!!!1504643925286-459d213f91ef3643b9a364a48303d7729263ed59026ff158aecc2e6ff69c8f94.jpeg

I used to know who manufactured them but so long ago I wouldn't want to be quoted. I can say the build quality is good and performance is equal to most any name brand at the time plus they are easy to service or repair though service data might be hard to locate. As far as I know service manuals were only on micro fiche distributed to service departments in Pacific's system. They were very good value. If I had one I'd keep it and use it.

Radio Shack.. Every Quadraflex I saw was based on Tandy designs with a few being virtually identical. They are actually pretty decent sounding units.
Don't bother with "Mr. Pacific Stereo". He absolutely refuses to release any service info. Claims it is on microfiche and cannot transfer it to print, or file. I personally just look up the equivalent RS model(s) and use that service info.
They are pretty straight forward to rebuild too. There are no "hidden secrets", nor "special" components to worry about.
FWIW, there are a lot of "Store Brands" that are the same as "Major Brands", but rearranged to "look" different. There is nothing wrong with them at all. The trick is to just find the "closely matching" model of the "Major" brand for service info.

I have the 18 WPC Quadraflex Reference. It sounds absolutely wonderful for it's size.
