Big Vandies!! Mwahahah...
My dad just got back from a walk and he found a Quadraflex Reference 300R that he brought home for me. I am looking for any useful info and also wondering what people think about it. So far all i know about it is that it is 30w and was put into production in 1978. Pictures to come, I am going to go open it up to check things and try to fix a knob that is out of place. (it looks like it was dropped) and if all checks out I will go hook it up and try it out.

I figured out why it was tossed. It had a cap go boom.

Is it worth it to try to fix it and how hard would it be to fix it? should I just toss it myself or is there anyone looking for parts for one of these?

I hate to do it but I need to know if I should bother fixing it or not so.... BUMP!

I've just found one Quadraflex Reference 650FET R in very nice coindition. The important thing is that it uses MOSFET transistors which makes it sound like a "tube amp". Verify if yours has FET transistor. If yes, Absolutely repair it. If no... ?

Little late my friend, I looked around it and it was just too cheep and beyond my skill to repair so it got junked. upon further inspection there was a cap that actually made a hole in one of the circuit boards.

I'm always looking around for good audio stuff and keep finding better to better: I ran several pioneers, B&Os, Marantz, Yamahas, now I was up to a Sansui AU-6900 with TU-5900 ( tuner quality is bad compared to AMP ) in the kitchen. I recapped the amp with very good results. In the living room I run a very old Philips tube amp ( shown in my signature) with 3A french speakers and a Kenwood TU-8007 tuner ( top of the kenwood line )... I went through Luxman, old NAD,etc. Now this Reference FET amp will get my girlfriend mad again " Not a different sound system AGAIN:sigh: ? " Believe me IT SOUNDS GOOD ! LIke tube amp except the bass is ALSO very good and precise.I think It will replace the Sansui in the kitchen... So meaning getting your eyes open, you'll always find better stuff.

Quadraflex 3000

I didn't realize I have posted in this forum in 3 years.... :boring:

I searched for this model number receiver because I still have a working unit on my computer station that I use for my office stereo, computer, and speaker testing during rebuilds. I DIY a lot of speakers. I had a couple of minutes so I was curious.

I purchased this unit from a worker in an old hotel in downtown Houston about 21 to 25 years ago or longer. Paid a whopping $20 bucks for it because the guy said one channel didn't work. It looked like it had some years on it too.

Well got it home and everything worked fine and I use it every day and have since I purchased it. I'm driving some midsized prototype sealed speakers imported from Germany by a military man about the same time with 10" woofers, paper mid & dome tweet.

If you get your hands on one, fix it because it sure has been dependable. It has the antique "Marantz" look on the display and tunes stations like one. I've never turned a screw on it. :thmbsp:

I'm looking at a 300r right now for $19 in a thrift store. I don't have a need for it, but it looks tempting. Made in Japan, so it can't be horrible...
