Quadraflex Speakers ST-21's

It's hilarious...I bought these speakers in Los Altos Hills, California....I got them for 50 bucks for the pair because the surrounds on the 15" woofers were completely thrashed. I had them repaired at a local Speaker repair shop and he matched them perfectly! They are Quadraflex ST-21 speakers....and yes, they HIT....HARD. I have seen many people on various forums bash quadraflex...

I do believe it was primarily because of the St-15's. I used to have a pair of st-15's.....these were the biggest letdown of a set of speakers i've ever owned...and i've owned probably 10 pairs of speakers.

I've had quadraflex(4pairs), sansui, zeniths, kenwoods, fishers, and various other kinds....The best by fair...are my two pairs of Quadraflex. My ST- 21's and my Model 55's. stacked right next to eachother I notice that the combination has to be near the top of quality that i've ever heard from a sound system. I'm pushing them with a 1969 Dynaco Stereo 120 Pre-amp with a powerhouse of a ampiflier with it.

With the volume at only 3 out of 50...i get more sound than I can handle.

this is only the 2nd pair of 21's that i've seen or heard of. Here are some specs on the 21's:

they have a 1 inch dome tweeter that tings and hits at just the right level that matches perfectly with the 15" sub at the very bottom. The midrange is enclosed in a seperate box inside the speaker, it is about 6 inches big and the whole system together is exactly what i've been looking for. They Handle 120 Watts (RMS continued). Both the 21's and the 55's Have options to adjust the highs and mid ranges....

The 55's have a 10 inch woofer with treated cloth surrounds and a 4 inch mid-range with a 3 inch tweeter. The response i get from both of the speakers together is awesome. is anyone interested in seeing pictures of either set of speakers? Let me know.

I have three Quadraflex receivers, a 450R, a 300R and a 180R. All of them kick ass. Sound great and are beutiful cosmetically.

that's awesome....yea, i had 4 quadraflex receivers.....two 575s.....one 450 R, one 300 R and one 650FET R (highest model ever made by them).....it was a killer...i sold it however...but all of them rocked....thanks guys.

Quadraflex St-21 pair

I scored a pair of these speakers at a local thrift store, mostly because they were in such great condition. Even the foam surrounds on the 15" woofers are fine, and no signs of crumble or deterioration. Brought them home and cleaned up a little, tested fine, with all driver working, and individual mid and tweeter controls. Connected to a Yamaha CR-1000 receiver and they sound quite impressive. And the cabinets are rock solid.
Best of all- I paid $40 measly bucks for the pair!

They are pictured without grilles, though they have them, also in very good condition.

I was disappointed though to read so much bad stuff about Quadraflex products. I did read however , that they did have some products of good quality. I am not novice when it comes to vintage hi-fi, and I see no signs that these are in any way "white van speakers" like some people who have you think. The only thing wrong I can see is they are missing the Quadraflex logos at the bottom. I can see where the screw hole was on both! They rock though. They simply do.
