Gday all,

I have browsed this forum from time to time over the years for information and today I have joined as I have aquired a pair of lovely but weary Quadral Quintas 160 3 way speakers.

First of all I am not really a Hi Fi guy at all, I have a Nad amp driving some cheapie Rotels for my record player and that is fine by me

But I would like some advice and thoughts on what to do with these speakers.

I have considered refoaming myself or having it done professionally (have been quoted $100) a driver.

I am not sure what they are worth on the Australian market or whether I should keep them and replace my Rotels I'm not sure I'm in over my head hahaha any advice would be greatly appreciated

They were a gift from a fellow I do work for who was going to bin them and I recognised the brand. We were talking about playing music and music in general and he offered the set to me (lovely guy).

These look a lot like Magnat's. They look like very high quality speakers.
I say refoam them and give em a listen.

Why not keep the Rotel's also? Let us know your thoughts.

They sure do look nice!
 
I think that's the best bet, I just hope they haven't been played with the blown out foam and the drivers are ok.

I guess I need to find a good set of foam and a guide to go with it.

I'll have a search on here after work for a guide on how to best go about refoaming myself
 
Check out youtube videos about refoaming.
Plenty out there.

I use youtube all the time, just today I watching videos trying to fix my lawn tractor.

You may need some measurements if they aren't popular off the shelf woofers.

Thankyou for the help I had a quick look and I can find direct replacement foam but I'll use your measurements reference to make sure it's ok

Looking forward to listening to them.

I wonder what they're worth ai can't seem to find much on them online I can find info on the Quintas 160t standup model but nothing in these.

The guy I got them from said "they were one of the best speakers in the world in 1989-90" I just wish I could read an article from them or have some sort of idea/info on them.

Either way I'll definitely refoam once I have a plan and size them up against my Rotels.
