Question About Bic America Build Quality

Probably within a few months or after the new year, I'll be pulling the trigger on some "quality" budget speakers. The Bic America's are one brand that is standing out to me. Sad thing is that there is hardly any information on their recent product line, besides their specs on their website. Lots of stuff about their old stuff before they got bought out. YouTube is a joke with these new speakers... Just people pointing the camera at the woofers moving.

I read somewhere that the floor standing speakers (listed below) are made of 3/4 inch MDF. True MDF? Or particle board? I'd also like to know the reinforcement structure of the boxes. I think I also read somewhere that there's no crossbracing. I wouldn't think so at this price point. And I would also assume that the midrange and tweeter isn't self enclosed from the woofer?

Anyways, just wondering if anybody has any knowledge or hands-on or ownership of Bic's present line. I know soon after when I've purchased a speaker, I pop out the woofer and take a peek inside with a flashlight (and fill the MDF or particle board screw holes with superglue before I reinstall of course!).

Thanks in advance if anybody responds. Photos would be awesome but not needed.

Listed below are the ones I'm curious about. However, anything (such as Acoustech) that's in their current or recent lineup would be of good knowledge also.

Thank you again!

Floor Standing:
RtR-830
RtR-EV15
RtR-1530

Subwoofer:
RtR-EV1200
Formula F-12

Center:
Venturi Series VK6-LCR
Formula FH6-LCR

The RTR-1530 at about 60lbs each seems well in line with BIC's stated claim of MDF, so not sure why you would question that. At $360/pair, I would likely look for a used pair of speakers that I can hear, or with which I am already familiar as I have not heard the current BICs. Never was a fan twenty-five years ago, so I would want to hear them first. If you do buy a pair of one of their models, please be sure to follow up with your impression of their sound. May be pretty good, for all I know. On the face of it, a reasonably heavy cabinet with 15" of woofer seems a good start.

I'd probably advise buying used as well. You will, with luck and some perseverance get more speaker for your money. Lot's of information around here on every type of speaker.

"quality" budget speakers.
To be blunt, quality, would not be applied to NEW sub $250 floor standers sold on Amazon.

Sad thing is that there is hardly any information on their recent product line
This should really really tell you something.

Anyways, just wondering if anybody has any knowledge or hands-on or ownership of Bic's present line.

If you where googling the speakers and there wasn't a link or mention to lead you here, again that should tell you something.

For sure I'll post a review with whatever I do end up getting. Yeah, I've just been out of date the last 15 years or so since I got my last system. So I've recently learned the difference in cabinet material and the perks of each. So I've decided on MDF... Not particle board or plywood or solid wood. I've just seen to many lies and false claims of products, so I just wanted to make sure these RtR's really are 3/4 inch MDF.

The way I'm looking at speakers now are to replace the living room speakers of four 12" MTX Cinema Series (2 front, 2 rear) I've had for about 15 years (I want a change and I'm giving them to a long time good buddy who would greatly enjoy them), and also these future speakers will end up replacing the satellites/sub in the bedroom (and so the satellites in bedroom will replace the boombox in the kitchen).

So if you think about it, I'm ultimately looking for good, larger budget speakers for the bedroom for in a few years, lol. I think almost anything with a tweeter will outperform the stupid 1-way satellites in there.

I do want new, however. Just me. Could be a fault of mine too. I totally understand buying oldie goodies though.
