Question about Re-Tuning the 4430 Cabinets

I sure miss my 4430's, I had them paired with a Marantz 2325 as my main system. One day I just posted them on craigslist for over double what I paid, two days later they were gone :tears:. I have since been going through my collection trying to get close to what I had, now it's a Marantz 2270 and the Heathkit versions of the AR-3a.

I have all the guts and drivers for another set of 4430's, just need to build the cabinets and grills. I was able to get correct build prints for the cabinets, just need to find the time to get started on them. I loved the low end on them, I would of liked a little more out of the highs but my ears probably won't hear much above the stock highs.

I had recapped the others, didn't notice too much change, I think the original caps were high quality so I will probably not recap these.

I know you won't butcher yours up, just wanted to stir the pot a little.

Do what? I'm not gonna cut a single hole or make a single non-reversible change :D

OK, another approach. Stuff the existing ports with... (wait for it)... soda straws. If they are longer than the existing ports, they essentially lengthen the ports.

They come in ~10.5" length, would be easy to stuff in there, and do not alter anything. And lest you think this is a crazy idea... many consider it an audio tweak that reduces harmonic distortion.
