question about sansui speakers and receiver

Hi I have had my speakers and receiver for some years now and was wondering about this just a few moments ago.
I have a sansui seven receiver and a set of 2500 speakers.
The thing is I notice that anything really above 2 on volume is absolutely too loud to listen to in the same room.
Is this due to a mismatch between them.

I believe the specs on the seven are 60 watts per channel and the speakers are a max of 80 watts. Also in the seven manual it talks about making sure the speakers are between 4-16 ohms, and they are 8. it also says in the seven manual that the 60w is for 4 ohm at 1000 htz and 47w for 8 ohm at 1000 htz.

just wondering
thanks

No mismatch. The Seven was built with integrity in the power department. On subsequent models they added a -20dB muting button that you could use to feather lower volume levels.

The SP-2500's have compression drivers as well, which are more sensitive.

You could turn the loudness off.

but is it really normal to only be able to turn the volume up to only 2 before your head feels like exploding? thats my real question.

I didn't think they were mismatched earlier either especially given their similar timeline, but this one point always made me wonder.

My Eight is the same way. Think of your volume control like the fuel meter in a car, everyone responds differently to how full the tank is. My Suburban's gauge holds a half a tank between F an 3/4 my Camry does not. Some receivers will give you the goose early on the dial and other will wait till 12 o clock on the dial. It is all a matter of engineering and design. Although I am not a big fan of Sansui speakers, I would sell my dog to have a Seven (not really) :D Enjoy your package and just be careful with your dial. Careful with the use of the muting button because, if it is accidentally disengaged when your volume is turned up, you could blow your speakers.

What is the sensitivity of the speakers, it should have a rating of XXdb@1m@1Watt......?

I suspect they are very efficient speakers......

Some eq's have volume pots on them you might try getting one and using that to have a more ablities to control the volume. I have a SAE and a soundcraftsman that has controls to set the volumes on them. You don't have to use the eq part of the eq if you like it flat you can just leave them flat. But if you like to adjust the different frequecy gains you can as well.

SP-2500's have a sensitivity of 98db/1m/1W I've got SP-200's also. And they are 96db/1m/1W.

To the OP. These are very efficient speakers. You don't need much to get them crankin. I have the same problem with my 2500's and any receiver I put to them. At least you won't have the problem of overrunning your amp or speakers.

check the L and R speaker terminals with your meter unit warm with the master volume all the way down

should be close to 0 check your manual on the adjustment along with the bias as
Naderpe mentioned
