question: anyone here familiar with the vintage Canon rangefinder cameras?

I am mulling over the acquisition of a Nikon or Canon rangefinder (Leica screwmount). A few of the latter bodies have turned up, but I don't know much about the Canons (other than what I read on teh webs!).

I was wondering whether anyone on here owns or has experience with/hands-on opinions of the Canon 7 or the earlier Canon Vt? Would either body have reasonable/practical utility as a picture-taker at this late date?

Thanks for your consideration.
