Question on a Canadian Speaker

I submitted a post last week for help with some unknown speakers. We figured out they prob were Canadian bec the speaker had Robertson bolts (square). I had not opened them up at the time but now I have. On the back of the woofer the following code was stamped "B2OEP65-02F."

At some point I thought I heard that each mfg of spkrs had their own code. Is anyone able to tell the maker of the speaker just from this code.

Thanks Again

Oh yeah I have a chance to buy a pair of Paradigm Titans in good condition or Boston Acoustic A-150 Series II where both need to be refoamed. I am being offered each of them for $80 a pair but can only afford one. I don't need any of them but which is the better overall speaker to have in your opinion.

For $80, if the Titans only need a resurround and are in good cosmetic condition, that's a winner!

Canadian speakers always had a bit too much Uffda in them for my tastes.

:D

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I LOVE Canadian speakers....GREAT bang-for-the-buck IMO.
I also collect Canadian motorcycle jackets (Wolff, Brimaco, Bristol)....so I'm biased.

The Canadians make great spkrs. I have a set of Mirages, that I use. They lean toward the east coast sound. That is the sound I like.

I would have to say that because they are robertson screws does not mean they are canadian. It is a good assumption but to me seems a little hasty. Basing the manufacturer on screws?

I have a set of canadian made yorkville elites. Not a robertson anywhere in the speaker.

And for the rest of you. These canadian made speakers haul ass at 400 watts a piece.

Back before i got my yorkville power amp to go with these. I used to rent amps when i was throwing party's. I reserved an AP800. When i went to pick it up they had a yorkville AP3200 waiting for me. 1600 watts per channel. Way too powerful for my speakers. This amp would throw the breaker on our huge service in our garage. We would have to kill the power to the garage and fire up the amp then throw the breaker back on just to make it run. This amp and my Bose 1801 are the only amps ever capable that ive seen to trip the circuit protection in the speakers.

Can you say, Totem, eh? Angstrom, Athena, Axiom, Coincident Tech, Dahlquist, Energy, Ethera, Focus, Gershmann, Hansen, Mirage, Paradigm, New Form Research, Pro-Linear, PSB, Reference 3A, Revelation, Sinclair Audio, StudioLab, Verity.

Too much uffda, what? Robertsons rule.

Depends on your listening tastes.....and room available, because one of these speakers is just little bit larger than the other.

Personally I think if you listen to lots of rock and power pop at louder levels and like smooth but powerful bass, go for the Bostons. This is just me of course but I've never liked Paradigm's speakers that much: too analytical and dry sounding, so not-so-good recordings - a quality MANY rock/pop recordings share - can sound rather unpleasant, usually resulting in an almost harsh sound. Bostons OTOH are more forgiving, a side effect of which is that longer listening sessions are made possible, plus they will have much more bass output than the Titans.

Could not have said it better myself.

All is calm in the land of eternal snow. Even a Canuck knows a joke when he hears one. Time to retreat to the igloo for the night, and light the whale blubber lamp.
