Question on Dual 1219/1229

I have a few questions on 1219/1229 service and/or maintenance. I am looking at a 1219 that has a couple small issues but wanted to understand the following before purchasing:

1. the single/multi switch is currently set to multi and is stuck/frozen which SHOULD indicate the dearing ring is intact and other mechanisms just need cleaning/lube (and the 2nd item below) correct?
2. I have replacement washers already for the switch maintenance - does it need to be moved to single play before that washer can be replaced and mech lubed or can that maintenance be done with it on the multi setting?

DO NOT MOVE THE SINGLE/MULTI SWITCH.
Remove the rubber washer and replace.
There are more complex ways to do this, such as removing the old washer and then the nut which fastens the outer gimble, and pulling the arm. Only necessary if caked with dry grease and dirt and roaches (because there are lots of bad housekeepers out there).

Not planning to, just trying to understand the state of the ring before making the trip since the table is a decent distance from me. Based on the switch being stuck and the description I provided, it’s safe to assume the ring is not broken correct? I have no problem taking care of the washer and other maintenance but it’s not worth the trip if the ring is broken.

No guarantee here. These are sometimes cracked higher than the little ears. This is why I pull the ring out to check.
