Hi all,
Please forgive me ignorance regarding tube phono amps.
Today, I saw for sale a cute "ity bitty" TUBE (perhaps two or three tubes) PHONO and TAPE amp. The unit was very small, had ONE switch for PHONO (or TAPE) was made of Stainless steel and had NO name or ID on the unit other than the word JAPAN underneath the unit. I was told the unit was older. I could buy this unit for $50.00 or less. Tell me please, are TUBE PHONO amps meant to be used with a MM Turntable setup or with a MC Turntable set up (or both) ? I presently have a TECHNICS SL-1300 with a good ol' MM cartridge. Also...which connection of a Receiver/Integrated Amp does one connect such a unit for use ? Lastly, do tube phono amp improve the sound of LP's ? Thanks for any help.
