Question to Marantz TT-15S1 owners

For current owners - do you find that the arm is too low when it is raised?
After I installed the arm following the instructions, it seems that the stylus is too close to the record when the arm is raised, only a few millimeters.
I checked and double checked and I am sure that I followed the instructions correctly.

Mine is not that low. Probably a good 1/2 inch or so. Are you using the felt mat supplied with the TT?

Did you adjust the VTA to around the "level" area?

Does the tone arm lifter go straight up when you raise it?

I just got home and checked it out. My needle is only 4cm over the record while the cue is in the upright position.

Did you just get it? and, does it have the Clearaudio cart on it?

I really like mine.

4 cm? That's huge!
My distance is only 3-4 mm at most.

I had it for a couple of months but haven't had a chance to address it since it was playing music just fine.

What happened is that house cleaners messed up the TT (I guess they vacuumed it and knocked off the stylus !!!) - thankfully Marantz replaced the cart under warranty (talk about being lucky). I installed the new cart this monday and thought - well, since I am fixing it, may as well make sure the rest of the table is up to spec, so to speak.

My bad! I meant 4 MM.

I checked again - with thick vinyl it's only 2 mm so I raised the arm 3 more millimeters - now's it at least 5mm from the vinyl even if it is thick and/or warped.

I fugure maybe my platter is a couple of millimeters higher than spec.

I remember reading once that someone had a TT15 that was shipped without the felt strip on the lifter. If that is missing the arm would be lower for sure. Just a thought.

Is your VTA about level after you raised the arm?
