Hi,
I've had MCS-3275 for the last couple of months. I did 2 rounds of pots cleaning etc. Overall - the unit is in mint condition, plays sound well and is very clean inside. I can also see capacitors do not bulge, no static hum, etc. - all seems good
Now - MCS 3275 has this 5-band EQ built in and here is my issue. In order for the music to sound properly, especially on the lower end, I always need to adjust EQ, or turn loudness on. When I play with EQ bypass, the sound is "flat" and lacks bass and dynamics.
I ran the test tones on different Hz and found out that the low frequency response is less than mid an high range. I was able to equalize it and the receiver now sounds quite fine but I still feel like it does not go really low like my other receivers (Nikko STA2020 and Sony TA-636). I would even say that both other models provide more sub-bass in neutral tone setting than MCS3275 properly equalized.
Now the question to the owners of MCS 3275 is - is this basically how MCS sounds and the expectation is to equalize it properly (hence the 5-band EQ built in). Or maybe it is just worn out electronics components that need to be replaced and the unit should be providing "punchiness" and bass in EQ bypass mode as well.
