Questions about Klipsch Sound

My friend has a pair of Forte II's. I have listened to them and like them. I am currently considering Forte II and Cornwall II. I have read the specs on both speakers but have not heard the Cornwall II's and I don't know where I could. If anyone in the Richmond Va area has a pair and would let me hear them I would appreciate it.

I know this is rather subjective but could somebody give me an idea of what the Cornwall II's sound like in comparison to the Forte II's I have heard?

Wish I could help you out on this, but I do not have those speakers. Guess the guys that do have those speakers are playing 'em too loud to hear your question. :D This issue has been discussed in these forums many times, so use the search feature and you'll find plenty to read.

They sound much better. Better balanced. Better nuanced. Believe it or not, the much bigger Cornwalls "disappear" sonically, while the very good Fortes always draw attention to themselves.

Get the Cornies. You won't regret it... and if you don't get them, you will regret it.
 
Cornwalls have a big, dynamic, aggressive sound. They're well suited to some things; less so to others. They will not make a bad recording (e.g., an overdubbed, highly compressed pop recording with little dynamic range) sound good. If you find them too aggressive, something smoooooooth like a Fisher 400 receiver will deal with their rough edges nicely.

You'll not find the nuance and "real-ness" of big horns from a Cornie, though.

I dunno this is debateable at best. To rock out I'll take my Chorus II's twice today and 3 times tomorrow over Cornies!

If I wanna play jazz all day give me a Cornie!
 
I had Chorus II's and went to Cornwalls. Mostly because of enviroment. Chorus II's have rather tight bass, and if not really in a corner they can sound a little thinnish.

They are not thin sounding with the bass. It's just they have a more tighter bass compared to Cornwall, which to me has little more boomy bass. A little more coloration, which some don't mind and some do.

Corner placement really helps, but my corners are lame and they resonant everything when cranked a bit.

I like what the Tractix horn did with the Chorus II, even though it always seemed a wee bit hot. That was probably from listening nearfield, however.
At least it didn't honk.

I got the Cornwalls because it was more classic heritage....a good enough excuse, huh? ;)

I'd still be happy with either Chorus II or Cornwall.

I would try to listen to Forte II, Chorus II, and Cornwall if you can first. Then you may fancy one over the others.
 
I've never had the opportunity to audition Chorus or Forte loudspeakers, but I'm still very impressed with my '79 Cornwalls! From Norah Jones to Dire Straits to Organ Encores by organist Jean Guillou, these Cornwalls are "the nutz"!

I agree they are under-rated for jazz fans. But they do get the knod on almost all forums. So don't really know how that is under-rated.

But for the hard rock, heavy metal fans the bass is just too loose and sloppy and the mid horn to honky. IMHO

Those type of words will surely UPSET the Cornwall faithful :tears:

Underrated?? Not the Cornwall, it gets plenty of love.

Most underrated should go to the Forte Is.
