Questions about wiring speakers together

I don't know a lot about speakers but I'm pretty good with electronics. I am trying to wire 4 4 ohm speakers to 1 stereo output. Is that possible to do without damaging anything? if I wire it in parallel then I would need an amp output of 2 ohms but I only have and output of 4 or 8. whats the best way to do this?

Two 4 ohm speakers in series makes 8 ohms so two wired in series and the other two wired in series makes 8 ohms both pairs but if you are talking about all four speakers on one channel and four more speakers on another channel, then you will have to wire them up so all 8 equal 8 ohms.

So let's see if I get this! Do you have a total of four speakers or eight speakers? Either way, they can be wired for 4 or 8 or 16 ohm depending on the amount of speakers being used, and the way they are wired in series or parallel or both.

It's not a terribly great idea to put speakers in series, especially unmatched ones, anyway. If you are trying to play both pairs at once, there is no really good way to do this with 4 ohm speakers.

You could get an impedance matching speaker switch but it will cost a few bucks that you could spend on more amplification, or different speakers.

Taking your statement literally, four speakers to a stereo amp, then two on left channel and two on right. Connect the two speakers in series for each channel to make 8 ohms.
