Questions for Fisher Rc-80b

Hi, I've got a Fisher Rc-80 with the left VU meter pegged and high-pitched noise coming from the speakers.

I'm convinced it's the rcrd\play switch assembly, but I'm not sure what I need to clean.

I have spent an hour looking at the interior, but I'm not certain what exactly needs cleaned.

I've attached a photo. Could someone point a fellow in the right direction?

I think it's the record/play switch myself. I wish I knew where it was on this machine. I have not seen one in many years. P.S. It is a first in audio history. The first machine that recorded on CRO2 tape and had Dolby B, the forerunner to modern hi-fi cassette machines and further improvements beginning with the Advent 201. And also Fisher's last major innovation.
 
Thanks for the help. Maybe I should carefully put it back together and leave it be.

I only wanted to play some DC Talk, and Petra tapes to scare my wife to death.
