Quick question on refoam for JBL L36 Decade

I am working on refoam woofers for JBL L36 Decade right now. I got refoam kit.
I am removing old surrounds and noticed there were black gaskets on surrounds. I assume that I need to remove these gaskets in order to remove surrounds underneath. My question is if I need to save these gaskets for reuse, since I don't see them in the kit that I obtained. Or do I need new ones? Thanks for your help.

Yes, save them and re-use them. Otherwise you will need to order new ones. Some vendors like Orange County Speakers should have the gasket segments if you cannot save yours for re-use. I ordered from Orange County when I re-foamed my L100t3's and the kit included the gasket segments.

I'm also in the process of replacing the surrounds on my 125A's and wondered about the existing foam glued under the cone, should I just rub it off with my finger, not worry about it, or...?

Remove it. Otherwise, the new foam will not adhere properly.

An Exacto knife- carefully used- can slice/scrape off the dead old foam under there, for the most part. Rub off what's left afterward.
