Quick questions with Sansui SR-717 cartridge

Hey everyone,

New to turntables,

Just got a SR-717, it's really clean and I can't wait to hear it.

I bought it from Fleabay, and the original Sansui needle is broke, he included a new Audio-Technica AT92E.

I dont think the Audio Technica cartridge is going to fit.....

I pulled off the Sansui cartridge and this Audio Technica doesn't have the two ears for the mounting bolts.

I can attach pics if needed....

Anyways,

Someone please tell me what cartridge to buy. I'll spend about $50 and I just want it to sound good, this isn't my main source of input.

I don't understand, the at's have a molded body that the screws fit into. they come thru the top of the headshell then are attached with nuts, and in your case yours is a Pmount that should have the adapter with it. If you want a nice sounding cartridge that should mate well with that arm get an AT110E give it some time to burn in and then sit back and enjoy.

Well the seller did not include the adaptor, just the cartridge.

That explains that.

I think I might take a look around on Ebay tonight for that AT110E

There are P mount adapters out there. Keep the AT92 as a spare and get a couple of extra headshells. You may run into used carts that just need stylus? Did you try Turntableneedles.com for a stylus for the original cartridge?

AT95SA from LPGear gets some great comments, it might do well too?
