Quiet Turntable

Hello! I just bought a Realistic LAB-500 at a yard sale for $10 bucks. It works and is in good condition. Since I don't have a phono speaker set up I just plugged it into my TV to test it till an aux adaptor I bought comes. It sounds good but the audio is very quiet. I assume it has something to do with amps or something. I'm new to this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to fix it. Preferably a cheap fix like 35-50$ if possible.

Signal from a phono cartridge is very low voltage, and also must be equalized (RIAA filter). A phono amplifier is required. It can be stand-alone, or built-in to a receiver or integrated amp.

Do you have any suggestions for cheap all-in-one ones? Again I'm new to this so I will have to take your word lol.

Would something like this be what you are talking about or would it need more?

That is indeed a phono amplifier. I don't know anything about its sound quality. Price is as low as I've ever seen for a phono amp.

What is an "aux adaptor"?

You don't need to take my word for it. I'm sure someone else will come along soon to weigh in.

@spark1
I bought this so I could hook it up to my Bose speakers

EDIT: I canceled this since I need to order a pre amp instead.

The Pyle PP999 is the one to get out of all the low priced ones. Can be modified if you like to tinker. I own one (very slightly modified) and am happy with it. Can't go wrong for the price.

I would not get that one. There is a thread on the Pyle PP999 here on AK and likely some support from fellow AK members.
Ok thanks. I'll look into that one. Besides a pre-amp would there be anything else I require except for a adapter for the jack?

Those appear to be powered speakers with their own volume control. If so, you can connect the phono amp to them. But then how will you connect the PC to them?

If you get regular (un-powered) speakers later, you will need a receiver, integrated amp, or preamp+power amp to power them.

I would just unplug my PC when I want to listen to records. If i don't what to use those I'll just use my TV then.

I knew that. Luckily most of that stuff is sold at Goodwill's around me for cheap so when I get the money i could do all of that.

If you're under budget (less than $100), search for "Art DJPreii phono preamp" for $61. It's a very popular choice around here. I have one as well and am very happy with it.
