R.I.P. Dave Brubeck

True, and I so wished the news was today rather than 3 years ago, we would have had Dave for 3 more years. Great link to a great and moving tribute by the Times, and reading the comments, you see how people were touched by Brubeck's music, his humanity, and his kindness.

Time to pull out Time Out, Take 5, and a few more albums, and play them. Best way to remember him. RIP Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond.

Never been much into (what I refer to as) "lounge" jazz, but I liked it when Brubeck played it. Man penned excellent melodies. Humworthy. Sorry to learn he's died again. I was hoping his condition had improved.

His stuff was "accessible" to the average listener, a good intro to jazz as diciplined improvisation.

True, but much of "edgier" emprovisational jazz could rightly be termed difficult listing music for it's demand of understanding and concentration. I'm not really ' there' myself.

Spinning a reel of the time series I dubbed to tape to celebrate Mr. Brubeck's birthday. Including the 45 RPM version of Time Out... so much nicer than getting up every 5 minutes to flip the LP. You are missed Dave...
