R2R repair folks in Portland, OR metro area?

redondo2018

Hi, not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but does anyone know of techs in the Portland, OR area that work on reel to reel (or better yet, are members here!). I have two very clean but non-serviced R2Rs - AKAI and a Pioneer - that I need looked at. The likely need relatively small fixes but my main audio tech doesn't work on R2Rs. Any help appreciated, and if you're a member here in the PDX area and are interested in helping me out, would love to chat over DM!!!

Thanks in advance!

What type of problems are you having? I was a production Engineer for an archiving company and repaired a lot of open reel players, mostly Studer. I may be interested in helping if they are not too involved.

I have an AKAI GX 280D-SS that doesn't play in reverse, and sometimes has some reel speed issues. I went in and cleaned the relays (which frankly were already pretty pristine, as is the entire unit, although all original) but didn't help. I also bought a wired remote to see if it would bypass the relays (read that somewhere) but nothing changed. Still evaluating the Pioneer, might have figured it out, but I'm certainly at a dead end with the Akai.
