Radian Diaphragms in 2440's. To shim or not to shim?

Hello all,

Finishing up a 2440 restoration that is documented elsewhere on the forum. My Radian replacement diaphragms came with shims, but I'm just not sure if I need them.

Do I just play the things, and if I think they are hitting the phase plug under power install the shims? There really weren't any directions with them.

Seems like a newb question, but the old 'phragms didnt have any shims......

Best practice is to sweep test with 2.83 volts for 8 ohm, 300Hz and up; 3.5 volts for 16 ohm, and listen for rubs or buzzes. The last two pair I installed in 2240 & 2450SL didn't need the shims.
