Radiohack TV Works Better AS A FM Antenna Than Any Trek

I have a Kenwood KR 7400 FM reception is weak so I am using my Sony STR-6045 FM reception is better. I am trying to pickup a 1w station that has pretty good range. I have tested 2 trek antenna and a radioshack tv antenna with this station

This trek is so so pickup up the station decently

This radioshack tv pickups the station pretty good with only a little static. This antenna is like 30% to 40% better than the tower trek antenna

I looking to get outdoor fm antenna like the one radioshack use to sell. If I had the the money I would get my Kenwood fix but all the problems to fix will cost like $150 to $225

I have used Television Antennas to pretty good effect for FM reception. Not surprised you are getting good results. Never had any experience with the Terk stuff.

I tested a vintage DX Antenna Corp SX-2 silver ribbon variable rabbit ears, Terk powered antenna, (got no idea how to use it), a pair of rabbit ears, another terk antenna without power but it had a power port on the end at the tuner. None of these was even close to a cheap folded dipole. I use folded dipoles in all the systems that need a tuner. Probably ought to install an outdoor antenna in the attic or on a chimeny.

Since FM is right in between what used to be channel 6 and 7, most VHF TV antennas, unless they have a FM trap, make great FM antennas.

I used to pickup FM stations 200 miles away with a 160' directional antenna with a rotor. Back then, that was how you got more than 1 TV station when you lived in the sticks, added benefit was FM. Could get both CITY from Winnipeg and KQRS in Minneapolis, both 92.5. Leave the tuner alone and rotate the antenna, which was electric.

Rabbit ears work great at my house! I live in the SF bay area and there are a bunch of good independent and college stations crunched up against each other down at the low end of the dial. The ability to move and shorten the "ears" makes it really easy to tune in stations.

While we lived in our previous house I had all kinds of trouble with FM in my downstairs office ( Florida 1st floor is cinder block with rebar because of Hurricanes. ) until I stumbled on a "HD TV Ready" set of RCA branded rabbit ears on clearance at Walgreens. They solved my reception issues there, now that we've move and my home office is on the second floor I can get by with the good ol' dipole wire antennas.
