Raising the volume level on an android

My car did not come with an aux in plug, but one was available to connect between the XM/Sirius receiver and the head unit and it works. Problem being the android phone does not have enough output to drive the speaker to a reasonably loud level. When the level was loud enough there was very noticeable crosstalk. Ghetto repairman that I am, I unhooked the Sat radio antenna and that took care of the crosstalk, and it is better but now there is hum and noise in the background (How does a DC powered unit develop hum?). So I am thinking, I need to raise the output level of the headphone jack probably 3 to 6db, and I need to do it electronically. I have tried a few of the volume raising Aps and they are worthless. Many Android devices limit the max volume when using headphones.

Check your settings with the unit plugged in, it may be a fairly simple fix.

I read(some time ago so may not be applicable ATM) that you could raise the max volume limit on a rooted device. Otherwise an amp might be your best solution.

My Android G6 will pop up a screen with a Loud Noises Warning, at which point you can override it.

These can found cheaper than the $49 from their website, I suppose. Mine was around $25 5 or 6 years ago, and has held up well. HiFi it ain't, but it works great for riding around on a bicycle, motorcycle or truck.

Is the plug possibly not long enough to fit the phone correctly, so it's not making good contact inside? Might explain your hum.

Seems odd that the satellite radio would be producing such a hot signal, one that the phone wasn't able to.

Something else is at play here... Perhaps there's a muting circuit waiting for a signal from the sat receiver.

Perhaps a shorting plug for the sat radio antenna input? I really think it is just the sound of the radios preamp being driven into its noise band
