Sold something on Craigslist today and the most convenient meeting spot was Ikea before they opened. Hadn't been in in a while so decided to wait for them to open. Fortunately they open the showroom at 9:30 and the full store at 10:00 so the wait wasn't that long. I gotta say it's nice to be there first thing on a weekday! No crowds or kids. Not one kid was seen!
So anyway.... I went in with the only agenda to keep an open for products that could be audio hacks. Here is what I saw.
1st off I have to show this, an actual turntable on a Kallax cabinet. Wonder if the arm was there when the display was set? Record is Rick Springfield.
Right angle brackets for 99 cents! And they were really stiff. Am sure I could use these somewhere.
Cheap speaker tilt stands anyone? They did have black ones.
Another speaker stand idea... want to see of a pair of vintage speakers I have will fit between the verticals. Ditch the trays and maybe use large locking hand-knobs for adjustable tilt? Also comes in black.
Some stools that might make good monitor speaker stands?
Cable elevators? I almost bought these, but decided to wait. They're about 2" high and were $16/pr.
I did buy these for isolation footers(you can buy the cork plug separately for 59cents/ea). Not sure where I will put them yet.
These were also interesting...
And I bought one of these LED lights to go over my turntable in the listening room so I can chill with the lights out but still cue the album.
Aside from the usual Lack table, Kallax record bin, and the Poang chair I think there's a treasure trove of ideas in that store. I'd be interested in other Ikea hacks that you got scrappy with?
