Our own Dnewman has one you can purchase, and it has no issues.

Enjoy,

If you have to have one of these best buy one with no issues. These tables were never plentiful, and any repair part specific to it that is not an "off the shelf" common item is likely not to be found anywhere at this time. The Nakamichi that made this table no longer exists.

Good luck to the buyer. For that kind of coin I'd be looking at a VPI that will never ever be a problem AND yield better sound. $1400+!!!! WOW.

What was it PT Barnum said........

It went for $2561, and that's actually pretty cheap for the condition and the fact that he has original packing. They usually go for over $3K. I suspect it's because the word "Dragon" does not appear anywhere in the listing. I have "Nakamichi Dragon CT" in my saved searches and never got notified of this listing.

If you you want to listen to records without huge speed variations this table, or the TX-1000 (even rarer, the last one on eBay went for $7500) is your only option.

What are the issues? Scratches on the dustcover? They can be buffed out. The only real issue is the missing turntable weight, which are even rarer than the table itself. IMO the buyer got a steal. I have three tables: a Systemdek IIX, a Thorens 125 MKII and my CT. 90% of the time I use my Nak. I have about 500 records in my collection and exactly one does not need centering correction. It's amazing how off center most record holes are. Here's a good article on why centering is so important. http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue33/tx1000.htm It's about the TX-1000 but applies equally to the CT. In a nutshell it states that "normal" turntables have real world wow and flutter that is a whopping 3300% higher than their published specs or the Nak tables after the centering has been performed (.66% vs .02%).

As for reliability, I worked for Nak in the early 90s and we hardly ever got one in that needed anything more than minor adjustments. Mine has worked flawlessly since I bought it in 1991. I do own the repair and calibration tools for the CT, but have never had to use them except for when I initially set my table up twenty years ago.
