this is for all you pioneer buffs..
i cleaned this one up tonight. odd black face model with a design cosmeticly simaler to a sx-1000tw. overseas model from what i can tell. with mw-lw tunning. is this as rare as i think it is?? its not a window shaker but its a very unique receiver. note the older pioneer logo font. my tube sx-2000 has this font.
its mot that old but id guess late 60s or very early 70s anyone have any idea?? ..:scratch2:

My guess is 1969-1971... my Pioneer SX-990 has the same older style logo font, it had the same look to the power caps, and the same PCB silkscreening on the top, and that was for the 1970 model year. Love the unique looks!

SX-440......4+4= x

Howdy, stereorob.........according to Dr. Strangelove's magnificent contribution to AK, the Pioneer Database......found in the Pioneer audio forum, by the way,....

The SX-440 dates from 1970 to 1973, and produced a mind-numbing 8 WPC!!!!!!

The mind boggles, the ears bleed..........

Actually, though, these old SX-xxx models sounded very good, very tube-like.....Pio voiced them to sound that way, just my guess........

P.S. Not my day......Not An SX...It's an LX....DRAT!! It sure looks like an SX, though....wonder if my comments are valid, now????????? Oh, the Shame........

Now to an Off-Topic comment.......this recovery effort of your Long- Lost Receiver Stash....I find it fascinating........please keep it up.......we are watching you!!!!!! Thanks for the reports.............willhowl:tresbon:
