Although it is kind of odd looking, there are several benefits to having the connects on the sides. The bigger G series are very deep, the G-9000 is more than 17" front to back, the G-22/33K are almost 24" front to back. Having the connects on the side just makes more room on the shelf. In many cases it also means you can get to them without having to slide the whole receiver out. Not to mention It gives lots of space for output transistors and heat sinks. (The G33K has 16 output transistors!!!)Originally posted by Pioneer727
They were put on the sides so the rear could be used for cooling.
All of th Big G series had the I/O and speakers connects on the sides.![]()
