Interesting how some of the overseas models were made in black, yet, some others were sortve a copper-colored/light bronze, such as the G-401 that Jure had posted.

Wow, that is different ain't it? But as I looked and looked at it I must say that I wouldn't trade my silver Sansui for it. I mean, todays market is full of black faced gear. The old silver face and big knobs just says something special to me.

Well, when it comes to black, I think some exceptions can be made, as in the case with Sansui, going back to the beginning with all-black with the very popular, and excellent amp, the AU-717. However- for those who like to set the mood and listen to music in dim-lighting, as I do, you can barely see anything on a black amp, whereas silver is more visible to the eye.

Being the owner of a 990DB I can say they look awesome in person. A picture cannot do it justice, you must see one of these in person to get the full perspective. Honestly I would probably never buy a 9090DB now having seen it in black, it looks so much better. Heck its one of the few receivers I would consider buying for cosmetics alone.

ive got a question at what model did they stop using the spring clip type of connectors? i cant see one of the big boys like a g 22000 or 33000 using springs.

They were put on the sides so the rear could be used for cooling.
All of th Big G series had the I/O and speakers connects on the sides.

im surprised even with this one, so much design went into it and its obviousely quality but they dont put different connectors

I wonder if upgrading the spring connectors to high quality binding posts would change the re-sale value of this and other units; like my AU9900A & AU717.

i dont know i think the resale might go down, keeping it original is probably good for resale. but if you plan on keeping it along time. new connectors might not be so bad.

Although it is kind of odd looking, there are several benefits to having the connects on the sides. The bigger G series are very deep, the G-9000 is more than 17" front to back, the G-22/33K are almost 24" front to back. Having the connects on the side just makes more room on the shelf. In many cases it also means you can get to them without having to slide the whole receiver out. Not to mention It gives lots of space for output transistors and heat sinks. (The G33K has 16 output transistors!!!)

The black G9700 defines the phrase Audio Eyecandy.
