Rare yamaha ns30b's. Wow!

ALSO.... someone asked me.... and when I had them apart to replace the caps.. I never noticed the whole
front behind the grill is open.... its a open baffle speaker?? when they are placed in the room correct they sound
big and full with Great midrange and nice hi end.................

Are the backs and sides of the cabinets relatively open (as opposed to sealed); other Yamaha "ear" speakers were. If so, you might try moving these another foot or two into the room (since it looks like you have room to), to gain more deep bass and space around the music.
I posted pictures of the inside...... The front is open.... the grill was so dark I didn't notice.. till you said something and I took the back off of one of the.

The first photo shows it turned around and the back is open... and the other photo shows the front is also open...
I just wanted to see the speaker so I had took it out.... and the photo of the back of the speaker you can see
the outline of the ear speaker...... darn thing seems to work pretty good....

Sorry, I only noticed the second set of photos. Yes, I would call that an open baffle design, or perhaps a modified open baffle design for the woofer anyway. The mid wouldn't be considered open because the ear blocks it's rear radiation.

It would be nice to see a complete picture of the back of the ear. When I first looked at it, I thought it was a passive radiator, but that wouldn’t work if the front is open.

I just picked up a pair of these the other day. I haven't even hooked them up to anything to test them yet. The guy who had them didn't know much about them and I saw their potential...but I also know hardly anything about them. I stumbled on this post because I was searching for info on them. I'm in Columbus Ohio and I'm brand new here :)
Amazing thing though, the guy also had A Sony reel to reel, a Pioneer receiver, and tons of reel to reel tapes. No speaker cables of course and I'm not even sure if any of it works yet, other than that it all turns on for now. I'm just starting this adventure, so hopefully it all works out! Keep anyone posted if you're interested in hearing.
