Raspberry Pi 4 / Oppo BDP mashup time!

Quartz locked n ready to rock
I have a Raspberry Pi4 running Volumio and set up with Spotify Connect. I also have a new-to-me Tidal Hifi subscription. I also have an Oppo BDP-105d with a stuffed optical drive.

I'm thinking I should open the Oppo and try to hide the Pi within. I could loop the audio output of the Pi into the HDMI in of the Oppo via a mini HDMI to HDMI cable. If I'm really clever I could find a 5v feed for the Pi and power it internally.

I think this might be a cool way to add a bit of life into an ageing device :-)

Sounds like a fantastic idea to me. My question is if the case of the Oppo would interfere with the wireless connectivity of the Pi.
Considering the wealth of inputs on that Oppo you could also go USB.

Well I tried it and it works perfectly! There's heaps of room inside the Oppo for the Pi board, without removing anything. I just looped the HDMI from the Pi out of the back of the Oppo and then down into the HDMI IN socket. The Oppo case doesn't interfere with WiFi at all so we are good to go :-)
