Anybody ever hear of Rayad speakers? Was in a electronics repurposing store (yeah kinda cool place) and they had a pair that looked brand new and really well made. Bass section separate from upper and mid drivers but stacked. Beautiful heavy duty oak cabinet work. The only thing I find on eh quick google search is a few references to Rayad sub woofers. and some patents. funny because the company is/was from here in Boise.

Sorry, didn't take a photo. Was bust concentrating on the Dynaco ST70 and the EPI M150's they also had. Might stop by there this week and take a photo. They were only $99

Sounds promising. Get a picture or two, but I'm guessing if they're what you described they're a safe bet. Binding posts and what size drivers?

I was friends with Ray Reinke, the builder of 'Rayad' speakers. He built them in his garage in Boise using oak-veneered MDF. They were small, they were heavy, and they sounded great! He also built the stands for them to match. He patented a design that hid speakers inside decorative vases as well. I wrote and recorded the radio commercial for Rayad.

Talk about a long lost memory.

Bought a pair of his 2 piece system, SP-2 2 way 8" w/dome tweets and 8" "bass modules " can't recall the bass module model number.
IIRC the modules had treated paper 8", the tops running poly drivers. The 2 ways were rear slot ported, the lower, rear round ported. Bass modules had 2 sets of terminals where the tops could be feed full range or specified frequency cutoff ( this I cannot remember) 88db, again IIRC

Ran them with Rotel power. Reminded me of some NHT tower sound characteristics. Clean but somewhat "sterile ". Perhaps it was my pre, or the THX amps, yes...amps.
Overall very good speakers with solid construction.

Bought them from Tim StGeorge at Jack's Sporting Goods in Caldwell, Id in/around 95'-96' ? He also carried a Mitsubishi line of components.
Quite the off beat store. Guns, ammo, vhs rental/sales and a small audio room.

Ran them as mains for 3/4 years or thereabouts. Sold them due to moving/ downsizing of residence.

Decades ago so memory doesn't serve me too well.
