RC5 Connections - ?????

Picked up a Magnavox CDB-262 which has RC5 in/out connections next to the analog out r/l. No manual, and can't seem to find anything on google to tell me what these are for.

Figured someone here would be able to enlighten me on these!!! I am thinking they are some sort of early digital connection??

And, the player is pretty darn good for a cheap looking old unit!!

For those of you who are breathlessly awaiting an answer, like me, it looks like the connecs are for an IR system that Phillips developed allowing any remote to work other units.

Anybody know any more that that???
