RCA cable change on Pioneer PL-560

Hello again, as some mightve seen my last thread, I picked up the pioneer pl560 for 200! I'm loving it so far, except I need to do some work on it.

The right channel RCA plug breaks connection if it's in the wrong position. There is also an associated hum, less if right channel isn't working, and more if it is. I have bought new cables, the monoprice ones mentioned in this post to replace them

My question is, how should I go about changing the cables? And is using all the 6 ft length still okay or will degradation occur? Also what is a good way to extend the ground cable, just with speaker wire?

I've always used quality component video cables as they have ultra low capacitance. You should still plan to keep the cables to stock or minimum length as you're dealing with ultra low signal levels and every little bit helps.

Those soldered to the table or socketed?
 
The stock ones are soldered somewhere into the table, I don't know where they terminate. I was planning on lengthening it by about a foot as my connection is a bit too close for comfort thigh my gear and cable management, would this be a bad move?


Also if I were to strip them at the base of the TT, how do I connect it with the new cables? Would I just use electrical tape or heat shrink or how?
