RCA Model VLT 41S

Note attached photos of an RCA Amp, solid state, pulled from RCA model VLT-41S featuring Tape input, AM/FM, Phono Stereo Console. I am seeking a schematic drawing to recap the amp.

Any insights would be appreciated. I get good quality sound from the right side, but the left is weak and scratchy. AM/FM, Phono and Tape work. Phono needs to be relubed but seems to work OK.

Hi Rolf, unfortunately a recap isn't going to address the issue of a left scratchy channel.

First, I would deox all switches, buttons, and pots. If the left channel clears up then that's all it was. If it doesn't, then procede further.

I would then take a volt/ohm meter and compare ohms and voltages between the left and right output transistors. If you find a pretty good descrepancy between them, then I would replace the output transistors and imediate driver. Transistors for these console receivers are like a dime a dozen so it would probably be worth it even if it wasn't the problem.

Check all transistors and resistors. Compare the left channel voltages with the right channel voltages.

It could certainly be a bad capacitor but mignt not especially if you decide to shotgun it and it doesn't fix the issue.

Personally, I have never had much luck locating these console schematics but someone else might.

If you feel the need to recap it first, then the schematic isn't really necessary as most all capacitors have the values and voltages printed right on them.

There's a gentleman on youtube that has repaired some of these. Look at Shango066 videos. These console receivers are also used in the color tv consoles.
