RCA MX-7 Receiver...Any Good?

I just was informed by an account of mine that I can have an RCA MX-7 Receiver. It's in nice shape and should clean up well. Has the Walnut Cabinet, which I understand was an option.

I'll probably mate it with my restored RCA 630TS Television, sort of a Proto Home Theater.

I hear the Tuner sections were fair, and the Phono Input was easily overloaded.

Anybody familiar with these?

Thanks!

I've never heard one, but you see them on ebay every once in a while (very cool faceplate) I'm pretty sure they use the 6973 output tube (same as some well-regarded Ampex amps, and some cool early 60's GE integrated amps . . .

not sure how its tuner and phono stacks up . . . it must look nice with the walnut cabinet.

it's on my short list just for the coolness factor.

post some pix when you get it ! nothing like a good before and after comparison . . .

It was made in 1963 or 1964, and has 23 Tubes, some of them apparently desirable, or so I've read.

You should see the Before & After on the 1946 RCA 630TS. Restored to stock condition (Cosmetically) "better than factory" but, not over restored, if you know what I mean.

Chassis has new Caps, Electrolytics, Some Tubes Replaced (but, not all), Resistors checked & some replaced, etc. I have two extra 10BP4 CRT's.

I'll post pics soon...
