hi-fi or die
Rdio music service will be turning their lights out soon.
Subscription service will continue for every subscriber until the next collection date (one month or shorter, for the most part). My bill cycled on Nov. 2 so per their statement I'll have access to at least Dec. 2. YMMV........tick tock
Me presently:
1,165 Albums
16,620 tracks
Rdio says that playlists and favorites will be exportable. No details yet on how this will be accomplished, or what format they will be in, or how they might be imported into another music service. So....
I'm starting this thread as a preemptive strike and proactive haven to post news, tips, and shared experience on how to move/export an Rdio collection/favorites/playlists before the lights go out. Most methods vary from crude to ok. Nothing I've found to date seems to be 100% effective but these tools at least give you decent grasp (direct import or spreadsheet) on what you have amassed on Rdio.
Rdio Exodus links to 3rd party Rdio communities and several "exporters/importers" to help migrate your Rdio stash.
I used the Chrome extension Rdio Enhancer to export to a .csv file. Clumsy (un-ordered) but it gave me a sortable list.
Spotify Album Importer snagged and imported about 75%. YMMV
Note: I'm not necessarily moving Spotify at this point. Jury is well...very out as to where I will land. But this particular import tool was a decent stopgap to preserve the most of the goods.
Hopes this helps. Let us know how it goes...
