Re-cap ADS

I was wondering if anyone has recapped or rebuilt the crossovers on ADS L1290/2 or any ADS speaker. Is it worthwhile to do? Where do you get parts? I have a pair of L1290/2 and L200 and although they sound very good, I'm wondering if they (the 1290's) would sound better or fresher then they do. Also owned a pair of L810's which I regret selling. Since I'm addicted to ADS speaks and havent seen the next ones I want for sale (always searching for the next ADS score), I figured I would maybe try and recap them. Any suggestions would be great. This forum is excellent and I have learned alot from here.

I've owned a good amount of different speakers. While I felt certain Advent, EPI and early Dahlquists and other brands indeed benefitted from a cap replacement, I took the advice of a tech/ friend of mine and left many speakers alone.

The discussion with some speakers , like later yellow cap Dahlqiists not needing a re-cap while the early models do, illustrates his theory. His theory? Caps built in the original days of the speaker, if of quality and proper manufacture, will age well and not require a re-cap.

Caps of poor quality, budget price or poor manufacture won't have a long shelf
Life and will not age well.

To replace the older caps that didn't age well is a no-brainer, but to replace
Stock high quality caps with aftermarket caps may actually be a degradation- if you're replacing high end caps
With budget bargain replacements, just because they are new, are you really helping the crossover's performance?

With the aDs speakers, seems they have aged well. I personally haven't felt the need to recap any of my ADS speakers.

I would replace any capacitor over 20 years old, unless you have the gear to measure capacitance and ESR and verify that they are within spec.
