As part of a whole-system score at an estate sale, I got a pair of Advent Loudspeakers (in walnut, not vinyl). As expected they needed refoaming and a good cleanup (can you say 'tobacco haze'?).
But the ugly part was the grille cloth; stained and watermarked, they brought the whole system down, and needed to go.
Advent used an open-weave cloth, with a black scrim backing to hide the drivers, so there were two layers of cloth to match. Since I couldn't match on sonics in the fabric store, I used visual transparency as an analogue, and ended up with some black chiffon for the scrim, and an ecru burlap for the outer cloth.
