tuner today

The memory buttons, for some reason, have foam between them and the underlying switches. The foam had, of course, rotted, so pushing the buttons, no matter how hard, had no effect. Some Googling showed this to be a common problem on this tuner, and double-sided foam tape fixes it. Finally got around to it today, using Frost King foam weatherstrip pieces. Works well, will see how long it lasts...

There you go. I've had to refoam a Sony TA-2000F, the foam holding the circuit boards in tight, and a Luxman R-1120, the foam keeping the dial lamp light from leaving the unit.

Should last another 15 years. Keep us posted, I'll check back!!!

Shhhhhhh... Don't tell anyone, they're still cheap. It was Pioneer's TOTL for a year (until the A-90), and in honest (objective), measurable performance, will kick many of today's fashionable multi-thousand dollar "audiophile" amps to the curb.

The tuner is no slouch, either - the two FM stations I care about are noise-free and sound extremely good on a simple in-room dipole antenna. IIRC, I paid < $50 for the pair at the GW...
