Hello and thank you in advance for any advise! Speaker novice 101
I recently upgraded my speakers + amp to:
Mordaunt Short Pageant 2 + Sansui au-217 ii
To join my Technics 1210's + Allan & Heath Xone mixer. My budget was tight but was blown away with the sound upgrade and the cheap deal - However the speakers can only handle half of my record collection and completely fail on some of the bassier sounds and modern frequencies of some of my jungle, electronic collection which is very frustrating. Obviously they are both from 1978 so not surprising however I am lost down a worm hole of speakers forums and trying to find a solution and unsure whether to add, stick or twist.
I'm keen to get this sorted so that I can play my collection without too much issues. When they work, the bass and dynamics are fabulous so would like to hang onto however more than happy to switch if required.
Firstly, a HiFI vintage specialist has recommeded putting something big and bassy like an old B&W speaker 'underneath' and stacking / paring them to resolve the current issues - Has anyone done this / had any good results? I haven't found any examples online. Serving suggestions would be hugely appreciated.
Secondly has anyone added a Sub to their MS Pageants with good results?
Thirdly, scrapping that - has anyone got any good large / floor speaker pairings for the Sansui Au-217ii which are less classical and more dynamics to wider imaging? Budget £100-300. The dream is a budget 'audiophile system' mostly for listening but sometimes house parties etc. I play vinyl from all eras and genres so looking for a reliable and all-rounder system.
Thanks again.
