I hit the Lake Havasu thrifts this weekend and found this gem:yes:Circa 1986 and a nice piece to go with my Realistic silver face Reel 2 Reel TR 3000:thmbsp:
Haven't seen many of these floating around:no:
All the features work and the laser is spot on when reading the disc.Don't know who produced these for Radio/Shack but its well built and works flawlessly.
Presently hooked up to my Sony TC 560 Reel to Reel tape deck aux/amp section so I won't get a chance to hear how good it really sounds until I get it home down the road.:scratch2: I'm still satisfied on the audio through this deck and speakers:music:

The Realistic CD-5000 I have is identical to a Phillips and Marantz model I've seen. I wish mine was silver faced.:D

You are so right:yes: I've seen the black models but rarely in silver so I had to pounce on it. Someone tried it out but the player didn't work, They had a DVD in it! Lucky for me:thmbsp: Put a CD in & it worked like a charm:music:

I was looking at Marantz CDP's when I noticed mine was the same. Ive been looking in a few local thrifts hoping to run across a Phillips or Marantz top loader. A long shot I know.

This Realistic CD2000 is the only thing close to a score I've ever found at my local Goodwill. It's a nice sounding, solid little player and even plays my burned CD's with no problem. I'd also like to know who made it for Radio Shack.

Mine is dated July 1985.

Looks like a Magnavox/Phillips player I own:scratch2: Got mine during half off electronics day $7.50 out the door:banana:

I passed on one of those years ago at a thrift store before I found out how rare silver faced cd players are. I haven't seen another one since, and still kick myself.

Ive seen and own other silver face models by Pioneer and Philips, This Realistic model has never crossed my path in silver:no: It was the only piece missing to have a complete Realistic silver face system:D

nice score, i own a few realistic cd players and really like them, your 1400 should have come with a remote when new, and is shown in the 1987 shack catalog, but would have been available by fall of '86, the '86 catalog shows a nice silver face model 1200 with no remote, yours should have been one of the first from the shack with a remote control as well, would be a cool find for you if you can locate one for it.............

If you can take some photos of the inside, showing the mech with the drawer out, and the PC board, I might be able to tell you who made it.

I've never seen another one of these things. My Dad bought this new in 1986 or 87 and used it probably every day for over 15 years. Now I use it every day after fixing it.

Just do a few Ebay searches for Philip's / Magnavox and Marantz CD players. Lots to wade through, but chances are you will find it probably identical other than the brand.
