Realistic Electrostat 2 what do you think?

Digging up an old thread, but I just found a pair at Madison, WI GW for $10. Will post pics. They are both 2a, but one looks a little different (lettering on the back is different font.) Look like original cords too.

I’ve got a pair of these that don’t seem to work. Diodes are giving me an open path in both directions. I’d like to replace them and give it a go but I don’t know what to replace them with. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks.

1N4004 thru 1N4007 will work fine.

Thanks. I guess that makes sense. Diodes have a simple task like a check valve. As long as they are rated for the amps and volts, they should be good.
That did the trick! They worked but were not very loud so I grabbed an old cap I had and jumpered it in to see if the existing cap was not sending the highs to the stats and bingo. Now they work and are at the original design level. I’ll order up some replacement caps. Then new surrounds on the woofers and they should be good to go. Nice looking speakers too. Cabs are near perfect and I think they are the optional teak veneer. Interesting pair of vintage speakers to say the least.
Thanks for your help.
