I just acquired a Realistic Lab 400 with an AT 433E Cartridge and it sounds great! Here's the issue: when I replace the AT 433E cartridge with my Ortofon 2M Blue, the humming is very loud and you can't even hear the music.
I looked behind the turntable and saw that it had a place where a ground wire can be added, so I got some spare speaker wire and made a connection from the TT ground terminal to the amp ground terminal and it eliminated humming but I LOST THE LEFT CHANNEL.
I put back the original AT 433E cartridge and now that had humming......until I removed the makeshift ground wire.
I am awaiting a ground wire I just ordered. I am hoping that perhaps I need to make a better connection between the ground terminals.
In the meantime, what are your thoughts? Any help would be appreciated. Is the Ortofon 2M Blue just not meant to work with the Realistic Lab 400??
