Greetings all. I have both a Realistic LAB-430 (that I inherited from my father when he passed away 20 years ago), and a 440 that my aunt gave to me. I've been wanting to get these units working again; I remember playing a record on both of them to see what they sounded like. They both appear to have their original cartridge (Realistic brand, made by Shure, I think). I'm pretty sure the stylus is original on the 440. When playing the record, I heard some slight distortion on the 430, and even more so on the 440. I know I will have to replace the stylus on both of them; should I replace the cartridges as well? Any recommendations on what to get for both? I wouldn't mind an elliptical stylus, but I'll be happy with a regular stylus as well. I have a bunch of 45s and LPs that I would like to transfer to my computer, but also use on a semi-regular basis as well. Thanks!
