Realistic Mach 1 Thoughts on bass

I've recently been playing around with an original set of Realistic Mach Ones (4024) and I am surprised by their bass.....specifically, I am surprised how little there is. For 15 inch drivers, the bass is underwhelming. I believe my woofers are in good shape but, the GRS replacements are tempting...

Is it normal for the woofers to be very stiff and require a lot of force to move? Acoustic suspension right?

Anyway, just wanted to create a discussion about the bass and see if anybody has solutions or ways to extract a bit more from them. I love the look of these so much, I want to love the sound too!

The small cabinet size has been identified as constraining the 15 inch woofer. One solution, discussed on another thread here, is to connect the bass cabinet and the tweeter/mid cabinet. Simply drill several openings, like 2" holes, that facilitate air movement into and out of the new space.. You have to be attentive to cabinet sealing - between the two and around the perimeter of the tweeter/mid. I think that there was some thought given to protecting the mid horn with a thin sound treatment covering.

This baby will get you almost everything possible with this speaker. I've never owned them but would try if they present themselves properly.

Two things determine the shape and position on the frequency scale of a closed box speaker,
the closed box resonance frequency (Fc) and the closed box total system Q (Qtc). These are
easy to measure with a specific speaker measurement system.
If the suspension is stiff, that is not really right for an acoustic suspension type of system, it
should be loose in comparison to the box air spring, in fact T&S parameter alpha is the ratio
of these compliances - the larger the better within practical considerations, and diminishing
returns. The suspension has to be stiff enough to support the cone/VC so that it doesn't rub.

What state are you in perhaps someone can measure them for you.

The idea to use the upper cabinet for more volume is good, also if you use a stand, make one
that adds another cu ft or more.

Do we have T&S measurements of the original 15" woofer, please point me to them and I'll
simulate it if I can find the time. In fact, I've been wanting to run sims on a bunch of 15" and
12" woofers and post them here.

What is the volume of the stock cabinet?
How much do you gain opening up to the top?
How much stuffing does the stock cabinet have, and how is it placed?

If you have a MiniDSP you could EQ it flat and add some baffle step if it needs it.

Here's the VideoLady mod for it, attached in .pdf: This was too large to upload.
