Got some Realistic Mach Ones

I spotted a pair of Realistic Mach 1s in a pawn shop today. They look like the early version. (10 screws around tweeter plate, screw terminals on the back, perma-foam on woofers.)

Asking $100 for them. Probably not a lot of room for negotiating the price.

Should I grab them? What would you do?

I think if you got them and used them for awhile
and didnt like them or for whatever reason,
wanted to part with them-You should be able
to break even or better quite easily.
Mine are fun,So far I like them best in a HT system
as mains. They are on stands 24" tall and look
pretty cool on both sides of my flat screen.
The grill cloth is Black and Im going to switch to
the original Brown.
They are not Klipsch or Altecs in sound quality,
But are much better than just a Partyhouse speaker!

Well I grabbed the Mach Ones. They're in decent shape. A little sanding and oil and they should look great.

I'm still not decided on the sound. Some stuff sounds great. Some doesn't. Diana Krall, which seems to sound good on anything, sounds great on the Mach Ones. "Stepping Out" track 7 has a piano intro that sounds super "realistic". During the bass solo on that track, it's you're standing right over the players shoulder as you can hear every little noise the instrument makes.

I am used to smaller 2 way speaker systems. The Machs need to chill out on the midrange. I have the control turned all the way down and it is still too forward.

Might recapping them help with this?

Worth a try. The Mach Two's were slightly better in the mids, but the bass I found a bit boxy. Still a good speaker, especially if you like your tunes loud.
The Mach One's will serve you fairly well.
