I’m on a quest to thrift a good pair of speakers so I’m just buying anything that looks like it might have potential. The Realistic MC-1401’s do play music, and that’s about the extent of their good qualities. Genuinely about the same sound quality as apple earbuds. Nothing below 60ish htz, the bass that is there is not only weak, but also muddy, undefined, and easily overpowers the 150-400htz range leaving no definition of different voices in the mid range. But perhaps the higher end is more defined? Nay; on songs like Un Sospiro by Franz List is sounds like the piano is covered by a blanket and Nutshell by Alice In Chains sounds like your listening to it live… but you’re wearing noise canceling headphones. Will be returning them, I’d say they’re worth about -$20. If someone gave them to me for free it’s not worth the effort of me taking them to the trash can.
