Here is the Minimus 7 ID Thread

Actually, considering how many of us own these
in one form or another I am surprised that this thread
is not included with the other threads in the Speaker
Reference Thread Sticky. But so far it is not, so here
it is:

I hope it has the information you want. If not please
contribute to it and make it better.

Thanks for the link. Everyone seems to like Realistic Minimus 7's !!!!! Dan :music:

Either likes them or likes to rip on them. They were sleepers back in the day; I worked at Radio Shack for a short while, so I liked 'em, especially when they were on sale at 1/2 price, as they usually were once a year. I thought they were great in the car; too lacking in bass in the house. But I did like the Minimus 11 speakers a lot; nobody mentions them anymore. They're hard to find and apparently didn't sell in the massive quantities the Minimus 7 did.

I have a couple sets of 7 now; like yours, the tweeters vary. One of mine also have white paper woofer cones, which others insist isn't possible. Yeah, well, they're white, they're original, get over it. It seems to me that over the years, the Minimus 7 was made with whatever they had available!

Always a good speaker, it can be tweaked to be a really good speaker. Maybe not great, but very good. Personally, I like 'em. They're cute.

I never heard anyone rip on the little Minimus 7's , with all the controversy over this vintage audio equipment, it seems that there is one thing Everyone I know agrees on --- The Minimus 7's. They are great little speakers !!!! I love the look of the Walnut veneered ones....... Dan :music:

Read any of the threads. Plenty of folk feel they're overrated. I think they're just fine.

Overrated ? !!! They are tiny little Speakers that you can pick up for $20 !! I can see people saying equipment is overrated when you're spending bigger bucks for things......

BTW Wigwam, since you used to work at Radio Shack, what was the retail price of these bad boys back in the day ?? I do remember when Radio Shack would have those awesome 1/2 price sales...... Dan :music:

I'm not the one saying they are overrated, but the people who do say that seem to think that the 'legendary' and 'cult' status is perhaps not merited. Some have pointed out the progenitor to the Minimus 7 that never became as 'famous' and have pointed out that they're good but not great, and legendary cult items are generally considered great. But hey, you're getting me to make their argument for them. I do not feel they are overrated, I'm just repeating what others have said on AK and other online forums.

I don't remember anymore. Good Lord, that was more than 30 years ago. For some reason, $49.99 sticks in my head, but I have no idea. That might have been each or for the pair, I can't recall. I just remember I bought a set when they were on sale, they were stolen out of my 73 Chevy Impala, I bought another set, and they were in my 69 Dodge Charger when I sold it. The couple pair I have now, I bought at local thrift stores for like $6 the pair. I finally had to force myself to stop buying them, the place was lousy with them for awhile. Now I don't see them so much anymore.
