Realistic Nova 55 Heaphones.

Been getting into vintage phones here lately. Just received these. Realistic Nova 55 headphones. Posted over at headfi to see if anyone knew so I will post here too. The drivers look suspiciously like koss ksc75 drivers. They have a leather and metal headband. They have koss written on the the outer part of the headband near the drivers. They sound really good. Practically new. Any info on these would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've got a pair of Realistic Nova 40's that sound good. The give my Sennheiser 280's a good run. Did you look them up at this website? http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/catalog_directory.html

I've got my eye on a couple pair of those nova 40's on the auction site. They go cheap on their. Good sound?
 
Nova 40 ......by Koss

Over the years, I have found several (3-4) pair of these very phones at thrifts for ridiculous (LOW) prices.......I mean under 5 buxx....

I think they sound pretty dang good! They are not up to Pro4AA level, but they are very usable........ and they are just about bulletproof, too....

They are kinda heavy.....but not too bad.......if you are laying down, they are great!............willhowl:music:
 
I know this post is quite old, however there is still very little info floating around the internet on these headphones. Today I picked up a pair at goodwill for $4.00US, and it had the spec sheet with it. Figured I would post so others could find it if they wanted.

100 db SPL is pretty amazing when you think about it. All the NOVA stuff is archived on Radio Shack's website in a hidden area that easily found by goodling the name/model and searching for the RS link. Most also carry a photo copy of the spec sheet, so if you want to compare, you can.

The Realistic NOVA 55's are KOSS SST/5 headphones. I have both. They are identical in both look and fidelity.
 
Bringing back memories .Nova 40's headphones. Had a pair. They did sound good. Can't remember what happened to them. Just went to the radioshack catalog web site.
